NUDGEE WATERHOLE RESERVE

Public BBQ

Nudgee Waterhole Reserve offers a peaceful escape without leaving Brisbane's northern suburbs, sandwiched between the Gateway Motorway and Nudgee Cemetery. The compact reserve features boardwalks and gravel paths suitable for wheelchairs that wind through remnant vegetation and around a scenic pond teeming with ducks, turtles, and eels. Information boards dotted throughout detail First Nations significance and early settler history, adding educational value to the stroll. The park has seen recent upgrades including a new shelter with a drinking fountain and double gas barbecue, though the barbecues' operational status appears questionable. A decent carpark off Childs Road accommodates up to ten vehicles and serves as a popular meeting point for cyclists heading to Boondall Wetlands and Downfall Creek bikepath. The reserve's manageable size makes it ideal for quick walks with dogs or letting children explore wildlife. No toilet facilities available, and mosquito repellent strongly advised for this waterside location.
